1883 episode 10 “This is not your heaven” recap and final thoughts of season 1

After getting Elsa medical attention at the Fort, however quickly they did, the Duttons road on out towards their manifest destiny. Knowing full well Elsa was not going to be live to see the fruits of their excursion west. Even though Josef’s leg looked like a Cronenberg creation. He wanted to press on with Shea and the Duttons. While the two cowboys ventured out on their own. Possibly finding their own prosperity west.

Josef was presented with the less than ideal decision whether to cut his leg off or not. As not doing it meant death, the choice was pretty easy. So following getting absolutely housed on booze, it was time.

Following this we saw what happened to the immigrants who had left Shea and the Duttons for Oregon. They were jumped by a band of raiders and all murdered.

We then see Elsa getting cared for by native people who use their traditional medicines and practices to alleviate her pain. All culminating in her and her father finally addressing the state of her mortality. Leading to them racing off to find Elsa’s final resting place.

Every time but right now was absolutely brutal. End of story. I knew this to be true and the west portrayed in 1883 definitely supports that.

The episode ends with the passing of Elsa. And HOOOLLYYYY HELLL that was sad. Having to comfort your dying child is something I can not even begin to fathom… but the emotion of this scene was heavy and felt very real.

We then saw a one year time jump with Josuf beginning to build his ranch and sadly Shea blowing his brains out by the sea. Bummer. Really a slow burn of an episode. But the perfect cap to what has been an absolutely awesome watching experience.

1883 has showed not only the trials of the trail, but also how those trials shaped people, made them stronger or made them go crazy. The trail definitely puts one’s character on full display throughout this season.

All in all it’s been an awesome viewing experience for each fan of 1883. The brutality of the Oregon Trail was entertaining to watch. Following that finale, I don’t know if we will see this generation of the Duttons again, as 2 of our show’s 4 main characters is dead. Paramount has confirmed “1932” is coming out focusing on the Duttons during the great depression and prohibition. Seeing a Dutton moonshining operation will be pretty awesome to watch. I’m definitely here for it.

R.I.P. Elsa

Here’s to 1932 this fall!

Tom Hanks discovers talent in the trailer for “Elvis”

Elvis is an upcoming biographical musical drama film about Elvis Presley directed by Baz Luhrmann, from a screenplay written by Luhrmann, Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Doner, with a story by Luhrmann and Doner. It stars Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, with Helen ThomsonRichard RoxburghOlivia DeJongeLuke BraceyNatasha BassettDavid WenhamKelvin Harrison Jr.Xavier Samuel, and Kodi Smit-McPhee in supporting roles. -Wikipedia

Elvis is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 24, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I’m feeling fairly competent that this one is going to be an absolute banger of a film. Tom Hanks doesn’t sign up for crappy scripts.

Now my love for Elvis runs deep. The King has long held a place in my heart since my Granny was bopping to it all the time growing up. And this really looks pretty great. Elvis’ music was absolutely revolutionary and the musical biopic has been pretty popular as of late, If Tom Hanks is attached I’m all in.

This movie comes to me personally at a great time because I have been actually recycling a lot of my Elvis favorites into my daily music shuffles. This all came about because my 3 month olds favorite song is “Suspicious Minds”, yes the song about potential adultery… I don’t know what it is but it works like a soothing lullaby and my baby is knocked. Any, yeah this all is coming at a great time for me personally I just really hope everyone else can out to the theatre for it. Because the musical biopic has got to be one of my favorite genres in film there is. What’s not to love, all the drama and writing of great filmmakers while also playing some of the most iconic and popular music in American or human history.

The King is the King and I think this film is more than long overdue. Elvis absolutely revolutionized American culture, really bringing popular music to a new and far, far more exciting age. The absolute garbage that could pass for a popular hit prior to that…. I mean come on… Elvis was perceived as the coolest thing to happen to music, well ever. I say perceived, because in fact it was Chuck Berry who invented Rock and Roll music. I mean that is an undeniable credit to have. Giving birth to a musical genre… that’s impressive.

I know this one kind of spiraled, but whatever… I’m excited for this movie and you should be too. ALL HAIL THE KING!!!

Marvel “Doctor Strange and The Multiverse if Madness” trailer breakdown

Oh yeah Sam Raimi’s directing this. Totally forgot that little nugget. In case you didn’t know Sam Raimi is the revolutionary mind behind the Evil Dead series and the original Spider-man trilogy.

So let’s set the setting. Dr. Strange will have no idea that there are possible rifts in the multiverse because Peter Parker never existed(Oops spoilers for No Way Home) therefore Dr. Strange doesn’t remember ripping open the multiverse with him. Leaving Dr. Strange very vulnerable to any multiversal entities or dangers. But from the trailer it looks like Wanda will give into her darker side and the Scarlet Witch will be attempting to find her kids and possibly Vision within the multiverse.

A witch stealing your kids. That’s an old school scary story old as time right there.

We see Stephen Strange meet Evil Dr. Strange while we see possible events that occurred within the life of Dr. Strange’s variant across the multiverse (this concept has a whole series devoted to it. Go check out Loki on Disney+). It appears that America Chavez has arrived within the trailer. Her ability to navigate and travel the multiverse will make her crucial to this movie.

We then see various scenes and here someone say “we must tell him the truth” this voice being Sir Patrick Stewart the one and only mothaluvin Proffesor Charles Xavier. Leader of the X-men ya’ll!

Bringing in Patrick Stewart must just be a scene in which Dr. STRANGE is visiting an X-men 21ST Century Fox Universe

If Logan (Wolverine) remains dead in this universe then maybe this scene may lead to an introduction of new versions of iconic X-men as well as have some characters such as Deadpool hop on into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe. We all know Ryan Reynolds will be lassoed into a team up at some point. And I’m here for it. Even the idea of a Deadpool and Rocket Raccoon movie would be sweet. Just allow Rocket to break the 4th wall in Deadpool movies. You wont..

Throughout the trailer we see three main antagonists surface. Baron Mordo, Scarlet Witch, and Evil Dr. Strange.

I dont believe that this evil dr. Strange is the same exact one from the Marvel What If… series. It very well could be one of millions of Evil stranges just like Kang said in the Loki series.

With these three villains on full display throughout the trailer I have to imagine that the Nexus Event referenced in WandaVision, will take place. And introduce mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is going to be a course altering film in the MCU. Day 1 ticket for sure.

The official trailer for Lightyear drops. And I’m so in.

The latest trailer for the “Toy Story” spinoff just dropped. If you have yet to see it check it out right here.

Just so we are all on the same page before we get to my thoughts here is a plot synopsis via director Angus McLane…

“‘Lightyear’ is the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear — the hero who inspired the toy — follows the legendary Space Ranger on an intergalactic adventure. ‘Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about,’ said director Angus MacLane. ‘In ‘Toy Story,’ there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further. So my ‘Lightyear’ pitch was, ‘What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?’ I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it.’

I’m all on board for this movie! I am a 29 year old man so the “Toy Story” franchise has existed in pop culture for pretty much the tenure of my recollectable memory.

Who doesn’t enjoy those movies. If you got a problem with that franchise, I’ve got a problem with you! Mixing that franchise with another beloved franchise of mine, that being the Star Wars franchise, is a day 1 ticket in my book. And that looks to be exactly what they’ve done. The planet Buzz seems to be stuck on initially looks basically like Mos Eisley in Star Wars. There are all different kinds of droids and robots walking around. We have an army of helmeted goons. This looks to be heavily attempting to cash in on hype of stuff like Boba Fett and the Mandolorian. And ultimately, who could blame them. Both those are great and if Pixar is at the helm then you can bet your life they’ll find a way to make this work exceptionally.

Really excited to see how they handle the over the top robotic nature of Buzz’s main antagonist the Evil Emperor Zerg! I think you saw his back once if I had to guess. This looks to be a gritty spinoff/reboot in the days of gritty spinoff/reboots and I’m here for it. Best believe I’ll be there opening weekend for this one.

There are two things I know in life. 1. We know nothing about our universe in relation to the ammount of information and knowledge is out there, and 2. If it’s Pixar I will cry actual tears at one point in the movie. So get ready for this one folks. Looks to be a great one!

“1883” Thoughts on episode 7, “Yellow Lightning Hair”

I fully expected this episode, being number 7 and all, to be a pretty tame filler episode. The start of this episode pointed towards this absolutely being the case. Boy, once it got going, this episode STAYED GOING! So I just want to post here weekly my thoughts following each episode of Paramount+ exclusive “1883”

First major thought of this episode is Elsa needs to slow her roll and maybe take a little chastity break. She is losing it, her emotions be all over the place. Throwing vibes to each and every hombre that comes across our intrepid travelers. She may want to slow down, Eeevvveeerrryyyybbboooodddyyyyy knows how quickly gossip can spread throughout a wagon train. Tale as ol’ as time right there.

That tornado absolutely truck sticked the wagons. So insane how wind can just shred through stuff that easily. I have been bitching about that break in the release of these episodes. I’m wondering if the devastation in Kentucky following those tornadoes led to Paramount delaying the release so this episode in which several lives are decimated by a twister was played so quickly following the terrible aftermath of the Kentucky Tornadoes.

If you didn’t notice that is the same actor from Yellowstone. Pretty awesome that they can show that his lineage came across the Dutton’s lineage even miles and miles away from where the events of “Yellowstone” take place in the present of this shows universe. His character really stepped up to the plate, even with Elsa being so emotional unhinged it seems this guy plays it cool. That’s really the extent of my thought. This native american cat was one cool SOB. Absolutely swoops in to save the girl from dirty ol’ bandits, save the day, and ride off to slay some more tail down the road I guess.

All in all, great episode here!

When Sam says “So I Killed him and took it”. Chills People. Chills.

Netflix’s Home Team… Not as Terrible as I Had Expected.

Aaaaaahhhhh…. The Happy Madison logo.

For the avid movie goer, this production credit sequence conjures up a sense of familiarity. What exactly that familiarity is in relation to may differ drastically. The slapstick nature that is the heart and soul of each Happy Madison production. That slapstick isn’t for everyone, and I get it. I mean there have been some absolutely painful movies like Jack n Jill and Ridiculous 6 or whatever number it was. Those movies were god awful.

Credit to Happy Madison productions for being what seems to be the single most bromantically driven production company out there. Adam Sandler has found a way to keep his buddies gainfully employed and absolutely filthy rich. That kind of operation is one in which any man strives to run. It truly is amazing how Adam Sandler’s greatest joke as a comedian is convincing Netflix to give him $250 million dollars for a 4 movie deal. Alright pretensive credit disbursed. Now onto the latest Happy Madison joint…

Home Team is based on the suspension that Sean Payton was rightfully given when it was found out that under his leadership the New Orleans Saints had a bounty system in place to reward defensive players who were to target and injure key opponents. This scandal came to be known as “BountyGate”, because of course it did. During this suspension from the NFL Sean Payton coached his son’s middle school team.

That is what we see here.

Just a great feel good story about a bunch of underdogs overcoming adversity right? Not quite, I’d say it’s almost a Little Giants reboot, Sidebar: if you have yet to see the classic Rick Moranes film Little Giants, stop reading this and treat ya self. It feels like a reboot of that film that hits so much better on the more dramatic moments.

Honestly the comedy in the film works. A weird but honestly entertaining aspect of the film are the moments in which it gets its most “Happy Madisonnish”. For seconds at a time throughout the film there are slapstick moments that almost appear from a different movie. One assistant coach in particular throughout the film, appears to be in a different film altogether, as if he were some multiversal entity foreign to our own understanding of comedy and nature. So bizarre but entertaining and I’m honestly perplexed as to why it worked for me.

Adam Sandler’s wife, got hella play in this movie. In case you didn’t know this is Adam Sandler’s wife Jackie Sandler.

The woman may be recognizable to many of you due to her having served many roles and cameos in pretty much every Happy Madison production there’s been! Nice to see her get some actually shine and screen time here.

Also, Sean Payton cameo as the cleaning man. I enjoyed that.

I’ve seen worse movies people. At least 5 of them being other Happy Madison films. But this by far ain’t the worst offering available. Not a bad option for anyone who has already ravaged most of Netflix’s offerings.

Rotten tomatoes has it at 12% but that is absolutely too harsh. Go in with “I’m going to watch an Adam Sandler movie” and it’ll be at least watchable.

Give this flick a 4 Rob SCHNEIDER’S SCREAMING “You Can Do It!” out of 10.

God Bless Adam Sandler for his charity work keeping Taylor Lautner working…
